Our Team Biography
First Response of the Bluegrass, Inc. has been providing quality instruction
and training to first responders and healthcare providers since our
inception in 1995, ranging from response teams in industry, EMTs and
Paramedics in the field and nurses, physicians and other staff in the
hospital setting. It is our mission to provide the highest excellence in
instruction and professional certification at an affordable price. We
believe the best way to achieve this goal is to meet with students in small
class sizes designed to maximize teacher-student contact. This allows our
instructors to provide personal guidance within the classroom environment.
Administrative Staff Joe
Kinney and Glenn Phillips founded First Response in December 1995. At that
time, they had already spent many hours in the classroom, training students
to become Emergency Medical Technicians, Firefighters and Paramedics. Soon,
the company branched out to provide instruction to first responders in the
industrial setting. In 2001, First Response paired with the American Heart
Association and became the AHA's Community Training Center for Central
Kentucky. Over the years, our instructors have trained literally thousands
of healthcare providers in both Basic and Advanced Life Support and it is
our sincere hope that we can continue to provide services to the Bluegrass
region for years to come. Joe
Kinney has served as First Response of the Bluegrass President since the
company was formed. Joe also
works for the Lexington Fire Department where he holds the rank of Battalion
Chief, in charge of the Division's Hazardous Materials Operations. Glenn
Phillips, the Vice-President of the company, also works for the Lexington
Division of Fire where he holds the rank of Major. He has served in the
Division's Training Center and in the Fire Investigation Unit.
Together, Joe and Glenn
bring over 40 years of combined experience in EMS and public safety. In
addition to their efforts in fire suppression, they are both active
paramedics and have served on ALS ambulances.
Doris Kinney is the lead administrative specialist for First Response. She has been with the company since 1998 and knows day to day operations better than the company's owners. She is an invaluable asset and is frequently the liaison with area hospitals, other Training Centers and American Heart.
Kristy Sturgill is usually the first person you greet when you walk into our
office, which is by plan. Her constant smile and genial personality makes
visits to the office pleasurable for everyone. Kristy handles a lot of the
data entry we do, teaches numerous Basic Life Support and First-Aid classes,
and still has the energy to answer the phone with a smile.
She has been with First Response since 2002.
